Research Programmer
Description:
The Center for Bioimaging Informatics at UCSB is looking for a staff
research programmer starting immediately for work on the BISQUE
(Bio-Image Semantic Query User Environment) system.
The position is available for one year with possibility of extension.
Duties will include working closely with database specialists, image
processing researchers, and biologists on a regular basis to identify
and integrate novel image-based analysis into the bisque system while
developing the core infrastructure.
Core projects will develop areas important to supporting image-enabled
E-Science including: integration and development semantic web
technologies, support for large-scale databases and analysis using
emerging computational platforms (cloud and cluster), development of
novel content-based search strategies for biological databases.
Required:
Bachelors or Masters in computer science or electrical engineering.
Recent experience with constructing web applications and experience with
scripting (python, javascript, CSS, HTML) highly desired. Demonstrated
ability to work on large software platforms with other developers is
desired. Experience with databases and/or image processing a plus.
